Enhancing LPG Supply NLNG Partners with Temile for Vessel Management

In a major development for transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Nigeria and West Africa, NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) signed an agreement with local company Temile Development Company Limited on Tuesday to manage the LPG vessel Alfred Temile 10. This vessel, with a capacity of 23,000 cubic meters, is owned by Temile Development Company Limited, and NSML will handle its technical management.

At the signing event in Abuja, NSML Managing Director Abdulkadir Ahmed called the deal a “significant milestone” that would enhance LPG supply in the region. Ahmed mentioned that the partnership between the two companies began with the construction and delivery of the first LPG vessel, Alfred Temile, in 2020, and has now led to the delivery of a second vessel. He emphasized that the deal reflects their commitment to operating a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly fleet, with the new vessel featuring advanced design and technology that will set a new standard for LPG transportation.

Chairman/CEO of Temile Development Company, Alfred Temile, and General Manager of Operations, Douglas Berkheiser, also spoke at the event, noting their intention to deliver another vessel by the end of the year. Temile recalled the challenges faced in delivering the first vessel in 2020, as no Nigerian company was involved in marine LPG transportation at that time. He stated, “It was not a commercial decision, but a decision that we can do it, and now we have done it.”

Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power, and New Energy at NNPC Limited and NSML board chairman, assured Alfred Temile that NSML is fully capable and will be given all the support needed to manage any number of vessels the company delivers.
